«Almost 40 years old, post-thyroidectomy, higher than desired body fat and freshly planted in a new country far from home. That is were I found myself a few years ago. I had always been athletic, came from an athletic family and even participated in a couple of fitness competitions. However, no one could have prepared me for the year rollercoaster of weight gain, emotion instability and fatigue that would follow whilst medically trying to balance my hormones after having to remove my thyroid due to an autoimmune disorder. I found myself tired, moody and fat.
Then I met Lionel. I have had many trainers, but the drive that Lionel has in contagious in a way that I have never experience before. Lionel is the most knowledgeable, skilled and influential trainer I have ever had the privilege of training with. Lionel’s knowledge extends far beyond mechanics. He is able to educate individuals on the science behind building a body through diet, exercise and lifestyle.
Accountability, drive, results and rewards…. In training with Lionel I felt accountable for my drive to match his drive and ambition, accountability for my results to match the results he believed I could achieve and the reward is inexplicable. I am now 41 and I am not looking back! Thank you Lionel for believing in me, for educating me, for instilling a drive and discipline in me that no other trainer has been able to do. «Passé cinquante ans, je sentais qu’il était pour moi grand temps de maigrir afin d’éviter le diabète, les problèmes articulaires, les maladies dégénératives causées par l’inflammation, etc… C’est par hasard, au club Aspria, que je suis tombée sur le livre écrit par Lionel, « En finir avec les poignées d’amour ». Ce fut une révélation ! Enfin le régime idéal que je cherchais désespérément depuis 25 ans ! Je pouvais perdre du poids en mangeant à ma faim de vrais aliments qui me plaisaient, et pas des poudres de « Perlimpinpin ». Ce livre m’expliquait comment j’étais tombé dans le cercle vicieux de l’addiction au sucre, avec comme corollaire ses fringales incessantes. Grâce à Lionel, j’ai compris comment fonctionnent les hormones impliquées dans la prise de poids. Il m’a conseillé des lectures supplémentaires afin que je maîtrise le sujet parfaitement. D’Octobre 2013 à Octobre 2014, j’ai perdu 25 kilos et je continue à en perdre. Grâce à Lionel, j’ai compris qu’il fallait changer son mode d’alimentation à vie et, en ce qui me concerne, ne plus toucher au sucre. Curieusement, ce n’est pas si difficile. Lionel m’entraîne aussi en fitness. J’avoue que le sport n’est pas ma tasse de thé mais il est très gentil, patient et me pousse juste ce qu’il faut. Grâce à lui, je travaille en force et non en cardio, ce qui me fait perdre de la graisse grâce à la stimulation de l’hormone de croissance. Résultat : une ligne dont je commence à être fière. Tout en m’entraînant, il s’enquiert de savoir si j’ai bien pris mes suppléments alimentaires et me distille des conseils diététiques importants. En un mot, je me sens soutenue dans mon effort. J’ai également noté la disparition de mes douleurs et raideurs articulaires matinales, grâce à une baisse de l’inflammation, m’a-t-il expliqué. Ce 11 Novembre 2014, j’ai déjà perdu 27 kilos. Waow ! Je n’y croyais plus. Merci de tout cœur Lionel : tu m’as redonné espoir !»

«I have been training with Lionel for seven months. I never considered myself as a sporty person and always struggled with my weight. Over the years I have tried everything that is out there in the “diet world”. I was an expert in starving myself and after years of the starvation routine I would need to fight my body just to see a few grams of difference on the scale. Following a move to Brussels for my first job, a lifestyle involving hours of sitting at the desk and diet nr. 47 without lasting results, I decided to give it one last try: not with diet nr. 48, but with expert help.
I chose Lionel, because I saw him train successfully with other clients.  I admit I was quiet anxious before my first meeting as I knew I had to admit to an unhealthy lifestyle to someone who is obviously living and breathing health and fitness. At the first meeting, Lionel gave me the reality check: my goals were achievable, however it would take determination, dedication and consistence.
Following that meeting he meticulously planned my nutrition and training. Every months he would give me two new training programs and nutritional advice. Lionel did not only guide me to use the right training techniques and eat healthy, but he also made sure I understood the science and benefits behind the nutrition and the training. Every advise he gave me was backed up by scientific studies (to which he is more than happy to send you the entire list of 50 references if you ask). Lionel was strict, pushing me to my limit at every training, and demanding that I am as dedicated to my objectives as he is, yet always understanding for any concerns or questions I had.
After 7 months following his programme, the results still amaze me. I have dropped several clothing sizes, lost 12 kg, feel incredibly healthy and fit and am apparently only a few training sessions away from doing my first chin up ever. Most importantly though I feel this is the first time, I am working with my body to become healthier instead of against it just to get “thinner” (I dumped that stupid scale a few months ago!)
Although it was never easy, took a lot of my time (and I am still hating those training sessions with Lionel involving the Swiss ball and the leg press), it was the best investment I did for my health, my well being and my general happiness.

2009-11-neringa«Je m‘entraîne avec Lionel depuis sept mois. A cause de la position assise au bureau, je souffre souvent de mal de dos, donc j‘ai préféré être supervisée par un professionnel. Lorsque j‘ai commencé, mon objectif principal était de perdre du poids, améliorer ma posture et obtenir une meilleure condition physique. Mais encore plus important, je voulais trouver un moyen d‘apprécier le sport. An awful lot has happened in four years – I have been transformed from an overweight, unfit and unhappy individual ridden with all sorts of health problems into this amazing, lean, strong woman who is healthy, happy and embraces life with a passion. It is simply magical – but I know it is not magic. It is the result of hard work, true commitment and relentless dedication – from us both. With Lionel, it’s never been just about the work-outs but it’s been full attack on all fronts – my general health, my energy levels, my sleep, my food, my mindset – you name it.

So how does it happen that somebody who cannot do a single push-up ends up doing chin-ups with a 10 kilo plate hanging from her waist? The answer is amazingly simple: she was lucky enough to have the best coach there is. Let me try and explain.

I said hard work because that is what it takes. It is hard, but you are not alone. And that is where the true commitment steps in. With Lionel, you are never alone. He is there for you 100 %, for you to be the best you can be, helping you to overcome your obstacles – be it insufficient flexibility when doing your first deep squats or your insecurity when facing a super heavy bar for the first time – giving you the confidence you need to push through what you thought were your limits, and sharing the joy of achievement with you. He not only watches your technique like a hawk but he is always there to give you the mental push you need (which, at least for me, becomes more and more important as I progress).

I said relentless dedication, because with Lionel, there is always continuity, consistency and a proper follow-up. To me, Lionel is a great strategist. Everything we do is extremely well thought-out and prepared. There is always a reason, there is always a goal and there is always a progress chart. He knows exactly how I did in my last workout, and he knows exactly how I should do in my next one. Each training cycle and each individual work-out has been meticulously planned and is part of a bigger picture. The only thing I need to do is to concentrate on giving it my best shot. And the results follow. Every single time. I have the greatest confidence in Lionel – to date, we have reached every single goal we’ve set (even though some of them have been quite ambitious, to say the least). And we have absolutely no intention of stopping.

Apart from being a great strategist Lionel makes a great mentor. Of all the things I have learned from him (which are many and varied), this is perhaps the most precious: if you fail to push past your limits you will never realise you dreams. Push past your limits (or what you thought were your limits) and you’ll see it happen.
